Farringdon is a school dedicated to improving the lives of young people in the communities of South Sunderland.
We value all students equally and ensure that their opportunities and experiences reflect this in order that they can fulfil both their personal and academic potential. We acknowledge that education is a life-long process and as such a partnership between the school, the students, their parents and the wider community.
In 2013 we converted to academy status. We wanted to involve all of our community in being part of shaping an exciting future for our young people. Following extensive consultation our new logo "Brighter Heart, Brighter Minds, Brighter Futures" was adopted.

Developing in our students personal, spiritual and moral values which encourage tolerance of others and a responsible attitude towards the societies of which they are, and may become, a part.
Brighter Minds by:
Creating a positive learning environment which will develop and enhance the self esteem of all students and also develop in our students a love of learning enabling them to achieve personal excellence through developing essential knowledge and skills.
Brighter Futures by:
Developing in our students the capacity to make informed decisions related to their personal well-being and future opportunities.

Farringdon is a very successful school with high academic achievement. In 2011 70% of Year 11 students left the school with 5 A* - C grades incl. English & Maths. This makes us the third highest achieving school in Sunderland. Results such as these are the culmination of the hard work put in by both our students and our staff. The relationships between teachers and students are excellent here; teachers will routinely go that extra mile.
Farringdon is a school that values individuality and supports students with personalised timetables and guaranteed one to one mentor time in Year 10, just when you need it the most!
It is, above all else, a Learning School where teachers see themselves as learners alongside young people and see it as their duty to inspire & support.
With exceptional sports facilities, superb performing arts and an inclusive ethos, Farringdon is rightly recognised by the Schools & Academies Trust as the most improved school in the Northeast over the last five years.
